Orillia Power Generation Corporation is wholly owned by the City of Orillia, and takes great pride in operating its fleet of generation assets with a commitment to employee and public safety.

Orillia Power owns and operates seven waterpower generating stations and seven rooftop solar sites, all producing environmentally friendly energy. Our original three waterpower stations have been in service for decades – Swift Rapids GS at Lock 43 on the Trent Severn Waterway, Minden GS on the Gull River and Matthias GS on the south branch of the Muskoka River, near the Town of Bracebridge.  

In 2020, Orillia Power acquired Shaman Power Corporation and its three waterpower generating stations – Fenelon Falls GS at Lock 34 on the Trent Severn Waterway, Elora GS on the Grand River and Marmora GS on the Crowe River. 

Orillia Power Generation announced the acquisition of a 9.6Mw Hydroelectric Generating Station within the town of Smooth Rock Falls, Ontario in May of 2026. The station, regarded as a “run-of-river” station, has two generating units, each powered with vertical francis turbines, and capable of producing 4.8Mw of clean energy.   Situated on the Mattagami River, the station geographically resides within the Arctic watershed thereby providing OPGC greater energy production diversity from our other 6 plants which reside within the Atlantic watershed.
